Add Window Treatments to Your Home Decor

Looking for new window treatment can be both fun and challenging.  There are many things to keep in mind while you are shopping around and deciding which window treatment is the best choice for your room.  You will want to think keep in mind the convenience of the window treatment you choose while also thinking about the style you are trying to create.

Types of Window Treatment to Consider

Curtains and drapes are made of flowing fabric that hangs from a rod.  If you are looking to add color or pattern to your room, curtains or drapes are a great choice because there is a large variety of colors and patterns from which to choose.  

Window blinds are slats made of harder materials such as plastic or wood and come as either vertical or horizontal blinds.  They use a drawstring for full opening and a rod for partial opening.  Blinds are often used for sliding glass doors or windows that require easy access.

Window shutters are usually made of wood but can be made of plastic.  They are perfect for easy access because they can be opened easily with one hand.  Though, shutters add a nice rich look to a room and are very practical for opening, they can be very pricey.

Things to Consider


You will want to consider the lighting you will want for your room when looking for new window treatment.  To create a darker room you will want to block the light with heavier materials like dark, thick drapes or wood shades, blinds, or window shutters in San Diego.  To create a lighter room, you will want to use lighter colors made with thinner materials such as sheer curtain panels.  

Changing your window treatment is one of the easiest ways to create a new look for a room.  This can be done at any time, but it is also a nice way the décor of the room from seasons to season.  

Mixing window treatments is a great way to think practical while also thinking decorative; for instance, curtains and blinds can be put together in order to create a  nice soft look while still allowing access to the window.  

Decorative valances can also be used to add more color or pattern to your window treatments.  Be creative with your style, but remember to also always have your needs in mind.
